Our Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) services are designed for children 18 months through 5 years of age who have, or who are at risk of developing, a handicapping condition that may affect their development. These conditions include speech and language delays, autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disorders, mental retardation, Downs Syndrome and others. Our early intervention services focus on providing therapy directly with the child as well as parent education and training.
For children under three years, we suggest 10 – 15 hours of therapy per week, gradually increasing to 20 – 30 hours at around age three. Therapy is based on the principles and procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and focuses on developing and/or expanding language and communication skills, building relationships with family members and significant others, teaching play behaviors, reducing problem behavior or behaviors that interfere with learning and teaching other developmentally-appropriate skills.
For children three to six years, we suggest 20 – 30 hours per week. Therapy is based on the principles and procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and focuses on more complex language and communication skills, teaching social behaviors and teaching the child behaviors necessary to succeed in a classroom setting.
See our Autism Treatment page for more information but please note that these services are not limited only to children with autism. The principles and procedures of ABA are equally effective with other populations.
All of these services are available at our Florida Autism Treatment Centers, at your home or school in south Florida or at your home or school anywhere else in the world via the internet. Please contact us for more information.
