Autism Treatment

The cornerstone of our autism treatment program is teaching or enhancing children’s language and communication skills. We utilize only the most recent, scientifically-proven methods for improving speech, language, and communication. The program has demonstrated success with children ranging from those who do not speak a single word to those who have extensive verbal repertoires but need a bit of refinement in carrying on conversations – and everything in between. The average child in our 10 hour program is learning more than 110 skills per month, each and every month.

The program begins with an extensive evaluation of the child’s verbal repertoire and other essential learning skills. This assessment forms the basis for the child’s individualized intervention program.

The intervention program uses the methods of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach the child age- and developmentally-appropriate language and learning skills. The ABA method is the most effective treatment known to teach new skills to children with speech and language delays and has extensive scientific support. Children are taught a variety of skills, based on their own unique needs, in 1:1 settings with highly trained therapists.

Objective progress data are taken during every session, on every skill being taught, so that we can always be sure exactly how well and how fast the child is learning. We use these data to ensure that we are continually making progress on each goal and to adjust the program as necessary to achieve the greatest degree of progress possible.

The program is monitored at least weekly by a Behavior Analyst to ensure that the child is making optimal progress. The Behavior Analyst reviews the data on each program being implemented and determines whether each program should be continued, modified, placed on maintenance, discontinued, or another program developed. The Behavior Analyst also periodically monitors each therapist's performance as they implement the programs and provides corrective feedback, if necessary. Such careful monitoring is central to our great success.

Our language training programs are implemented by highly trained Therapists. They have received specialized training and supervised experience in teaching language using the ABA (Verbal Behavior/Discrete Trials Training) approach. All programs are developed and supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts or Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts who have a specialization in teaching language to children with speech delays. All programs are also overseen by our Clinical Director, David Garcia, M.S., BCBA.

We’ve successfully treated thousands of children displaying behavior problems ranging from mildly annoying to life-threatening.
